Two Weeks Ago—Thompson Will Enter Race

(5/31/07) As we reported to our readers several weeks ago, former
Sen. Fred Thompson will announce in the near future the formation
of an exploratory committee to seek the GOP nomination for President.
InsiderAdvantage and the Southern Political Report had extensive
background discussions with several “ground floor” supporters
of Thompson who confirmed weeks ago the Senator’s intention
to run.
At that time, we reported that a schedule had already been established
for the unveiling of the Thompson effort. The “Draft Thompson”
movement, which started in earnest just a few weeks ago, swiftly
turned into the foundation for a soon-to-be initial finance committee.
